portrait price

The price of a matted portrait is $150, plus $15 for shipping, handling, and insurance. Maryland residents, please add 6% state sales tax ($9) to the cost of each matted drawing (shipping-related costs are not subject to state sales tax). Payment methods: personal check, cashier’s check, or money order.

The portrait size is approximately 8” x 10”. The drawing is then mounted in an 8-ply, soft gray, archival matting with outer dimensions of 11” x 14” (a standard frame size) and placed within a crystal clear sleeve to temporarily protect the drawing until it is framed.

how to order a portrait

1. PHOTOS: Select several clear, close-up photos of your dog. See “photo tips” for suggestions. Send your best few photos to me via email or U.S. mail (see address in Item #6 below). If sending photos by mail, please send me copies, not your only originals, in case they get lost in the mail.

2. TIMELINE: Normally, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery, but this may vary with the season and holidays. If the portrait is a gift, let me know the date by which you will need it. If time is too short, attractive gift certificates are available (details on this option are below).

3. APPROVAL and SATISFACTION GUARANTEE: When your dog portrait is complete, I will email a review proof of the portrait for your approval. The proof cannot show all the detail and subtleties of the original drawing, but you will get a good sense of how your dog’s character has been captured, and I am happy to work with you to ensure your satisfaction.

4. PAYMENT: Once you have approved the review proof of the portrait, please send payment (in U.S. Dollars) by check or money order, payable to D.L. Firmani at P.O. Box 32, Mt. Airy, MD 21771-0032. (See “portrait price” section above for the correct amount.)

5. SHIPPING: Once full payment is received, your finished portrait will be carefully packaged for shipping. It will be insured and sent via UPS, unless other arrangements are agreed upon. The charge for shipping, handling, and insurance is $15.00 per portrait. Multiple orders to the same address increase only by the cost of additional insurance and weight.

gift certificates

If you are short on time before a special gift occasion, or simply cannot easily get photos of that special dog without spoiling the surprise, a gift certificate for a dog portrait is a great solution.

Gift certificates come in a presentation folder, which can either be sent to you or directly to your gift recipient. Once payment is received, the gift certificate will be officially registered, and it will remain valid for one full year. Total cost for the gift certificate option is $170. This includes the portrait ($150); shipping, handling, and insurance for the portrait ($15); and a $5 fee for the cost of materials, processing, and mailing of the gift certificate. Maryland residents, please add $9 sales tax for the portrait.
